"Resolved"

It is 11x14-acrylic on board. I had never worked on board before. This was gesso board-I think I'll stick to canvas-at least with acrylic. I couldn't blend the way I am wont to do, and found that I had to wait for things to dry before I could go back in there- the gesso board was just too absorptive ( is that a word?) yet tacky at the same time. Weird.
Maybe I'll cover it with linen first next time-
anyway-done!

That color is great! I love how much luster you're able to get out of the acrylics. That's something I always struggle with.

Thanks guys!
Rob, I think that
luster comes from painting Mardi Gras floats for so long. I use really bright colors, and lots of compliments. For example, on this one-which is mostly shades of red, to get my really dark darks, I'm using practically straight Pthalo green. Once you paint it over the red, it reads black, but is way more alive and intense than if I would just try to darken down my red.

Maybe that will help? I know-acrylics can get really muddy and dead.
